What Marmot lists
The men’s PreCip Eco Rain Jacket uses Marmot’s NanoPro Eco fabric, a recycled nylon face with a PFC-free microporous coating that Marmot calls waterproof and breathable. REI’s listing describes the face as a recycled nylon ripstop. Every seam is taped, and Marmot also lists a patented dry-touch finish.
The hood is attached, adjusts, and can be rolled away into the collar. The chin area is lined with Marmot’s DriClime fabric. Pit zips provide venting, cuffs close with hook-and-loop tabs, and the hem has an elastic drawcord. Marmot lists “pack pockets” and says the jacket stuffs into one of its own pockets. The sleeves use the brand’s Angel-Wing Movement cut for arm reach. Listed weight is 305 g (11 oz), with a regular fit and a 30-inch center back length.
What isn’t published
There is no waterproof rating in millimetres, no breathability figure, no fabric denier and no third-party certification on the page. Marmot also does not describe the pocket layout beyond “pack pockets”, so we have not guessed at a count. Our guides to waterproof ratings and breathability ratings explain what those numbers would tell you.
Who it suits
On its specs, this is a light, packable rain shell for day hikes, travel and around-town use, with pit zips as its main venting tool. It is not a three-layer mountain shell, so frequent heavy-pack users or anyone heading into sustained storms may prefer the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L or the Arc’teryx Beta Jacket. A mesh-lined alternative is The North Face Antora. Compare them side by side in the jacket comparison.
