Design
The Duplex Classic is a single-wall shelter made from Dyneema Composite Fabric (DCF). The canopy is .55 oz/sq yd DCF in Blue or Olive Drab (.75 oz/sq yd in Spruce Green), and the floor is 1.0 oz/sq yd DCF with 8-inch bathtub walls. Seams are taped from the factory, so no seam sealing is needed.
It has no poles of its own. You pitch it on two 48-inch (122 cm) trekking poles or Zpacks carbon poles, both bought separately, and it needs 6 to 8 stakes, also not included. Each side has a screen door and a vestibule, closed by two storm-door panels that open independently. The canopy sits 6 inches off the ground for airflow. An optional Flex Kit makes it semi-freestanding.
Zpacks now also sells the Duplex Pro, which replaced the Duplex Zip in July 2025 and has a wider 50 × 84 in floor at $799. This page covers the Classic only.
Size and weight in context
Zpacks lists 504 g (17.8 oz) for Blue and Olive Drab, including guylines, linelocs and taped seams but not stakes. Spruce Green is 566 g. The floor is 45 in × 7.5 ft (2.6 m²), the peak is 48 in (122 cm), and vestibules extend 24 in from each side. Rolled tight, it packs to about 4.75 × 12 in.
That’s roughly a quarter of the 2 kg minimum weight of the all-season Hilleberg Nallo 2, though the Nallo is a pole-supported tunnel built for harsher conditions. Use the tent comparison tool to line them up.
Who it suits
The Duplex Classic suits hikers who already use trekking poles and want to save as much weight as possible, especially on long trails. Two people will find the 45-inch floor snug, while solo hikers get plenty of room. Skip it if you camp where stakes won’t hold or don’t want to depend on poles. Zpacks publishes no season rating; read 3-season vs 4-season tents before taking it into snow. More options are in tents.
