Design
The Tiger Wall UL2 is a side-entry two-person tent from Big Agnes built around one DAC Featherlite NFL
pole. The pole forms the main structure, and the foot end relies on stakes to pull its corners out, which
is why Big Agnes calls it semi-freestanding rather than freestanding.
The current version uses the brand’s HyperBead fabric for both rainfly and floor: recycled 15D nylon
ripstop rated to 1500 mm. The inner tent combines breathable recycled 15D nylon ripstop with polyester
mesh. Each side has its own door and vestibule, there is a large ceiling pocket for storage, and the
vestibule doors include low vents for airflow.
Size and weight in context
REI lists a minimum trail weight of 2 lb 3 oz and a packaged weight of 2 lb 8 oz. The floor is 86 inches
long and tapers from 52 inches at the head to 42 at the foot, for 28 sq ft, with two 8 sq ft vestibules
and 39 inches of peak height. Packed size is about 5 x 18 inches.
For other two-person options, see the Copper Spur UL2 and
MSR Hubba Hubba NX. The
MSR Elixir 2 is fully freestanding and includes a footprint,
but lists a minimum weight of 5 lb 2 oz, more than twice this tent’s figure. Line them up on the
tent comparison page.
Who it suits
The Tiger Wall UL2 suits two-person teams or solo hikers who count ounces but still want two doors and two
vestibules, and who mostly camp on ground where stakes hold well. It is a three-season tent; see
3-season vs 4-season tents for what that rating
covers. Campers who often pitch on rock, sand or wooden platforms may prefer a fully freestanding design.
