Design
The Nallo 2 is a tunnel tent built on two 9 mm poles of different lengths (305 cm and 260 cm), with a Kerlon 1200 outer tent. Hilleberg places it in its Red Label range and describes it as an all-season tent: the outer walls run down to the ground, and the mesh areas are backed by adjustable fabric panels so they can be closed off. The inner and outer tents are linked, so they go up together, but they can be separated and used on their own. The lower part of the rear outer wall rolls up for extra airflow.
Like other tunnels, it is not freestanding. Hilleberg says it needs a minimum of four pegs to pitch and ships it with 16 V-pegs for guying out. There is a single entrance at one end with one vestibule.
Size and weight in context
Hilleberg lists a minimum weight of 2 kg (4 lb 7 oz) and a packed weight of 2.4 kg (5 lb 5 oz). The inner tent area is 2.6 m² (28.0 ft²), the vestibule adds 1.3 m² (14.0 ft²), and inner height is 100 cm (39.4 in). Packed, it measures 48 × 17 cm.
That weight is high for a summer backpacking tent but low for a tent the maker rates for all seasons. If you’re unsure which you need, see 3-season vs 4-season tents. For a much lighter, three-season-style option that uses trekking poles, compare the Zpacks Duplex, or line several up in the tent comparison tool.
Who it suits
The Nallo 2 suits two people who want one tent for exposed or year-round trips and are willing to stake it out properly every time. It is less suited to pairs who want a door each, or to sites where pegs won’t hold, such as rock slabs and wooden platforms. Hilleberg doesn’t publish the inner-tent or floor fabric on the product page, so check with a dealer if those details matter to you. Browse more options in tents.
