The StormLine Stretch is Black Diamond’s everyday rain shell. Its stretch face fabric is the main point of difference: many lightweight rain jackets use stiffer, non-stretch fabrics.
What Black Diamond lists
- BD.dry, Black Diamond’s in-house waterproof and breathable technology.
- A stretch face fabric, which Black Diamond credits with better comfort and longer life.
- An adjustable hood sized to go over a climbing helmet.
- A coated YKK AquaGuard zip at the front.
- A PFC-free water repellent applied with EMPEL’s water-free process, on a bluesign-approved main fabric.
- It stuffs into its own right hand pocket, and a loop lets you clip it to a harness or pack strap.
What isn’t published
Black Diamond’s page didn’t give a weight, waterproof rating (mm) or breathability figure when we checked. We’ve left those blank instead of copying figures from unofficial sources. If you need a number to compare, ask the retailer or check the hangtag. Our waterproof ratings guide explains what to look for when a figure isn’t listed.
Who it suits
Hikers and climbers who move a lot in their shell and want something that packs away small, especially if a PFC-free finish matters to you.
