What Arc’teryx lists
The current men’s Beta Jacket is built from a three-layer GORE-TEX ePE laminate. Arc’teryx pairs the expanded-polyethylene membrane, which it describes as PFC-free, with Gore’s C-KNIT backer on the inside and an 80-denier face fabric on the outside. The water-repellent finish is listed as FC0, meaning no fluorinated chemistry. The page also notes recycled content, dope-dyed material, PFAS compliance and processes that meet bluesign criteria.
The hood is the low-profile StormHood, adjusted with a single pull that Arc’teryx says won’t block your view. The front closes with a WaterTight Vislon zip and chin guard. Storage is two hand pockets plus an internal laminated zip pocket. The hem has two adjusters, the patterning is articulated, and a RECCO reflector is built in. Listed weight is 375 g (13.2 oz) in a regular fit.
What isn’t published
Arc’teryx gives no hydrostatic head or breathability rating, so those fields are empty here; our guides to waterproof ratings and breathability ratings explain the usual scales. The page mentions no pit zips and no stuff pocket, so we list neither.
Who it suits
The spec sheet points to a general mountain shell: hiking, scrambling and wet shoulder-season trips where a tough 80D face and a Gore-Tex membrane matter more than minimum weight. Without pit zips it may run warm during hard climbs, which is worth weighing against the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L or the Helly Hansen Verglas 3L. To see how it stacks up with other shells, use the jacket comparison.
