Berghaus Fellmaster Ridge Gore-tex boots review
A year ago I replaced my very worn Salomon LTR GTX for these Berghaus Fellmasters and I feel now, after such time, I can provide an honest review.
The fit.
First impression, Literally out of the box comfort!
The memory foam around the collar and tongue give you that perfect fit. Straight away you notice the security these boots offer. They provide excellent ankle support which minimizes the chance of your foot from twisting during challenging hike’s and the Ortholite insoles help to maintain your comfort level no matter what the terrain. The Nubuck leather outer is fantastic, strong yet subtle, and easy to keep clean.
After many, many miles over literally every terrain. There are no signs of rubbing or chafing even during wet conditions, the leather thanks to the excellent Gore-tex lining which helps no end for passing through streams and puddles, keeping your feet dry all day.
I’ve even used them whilst riding my Honda Africa Twin as a backup boot and at 70mph on the motorway, there were no issues with wind chill or my feet becoming wet when the rain hits.
The grip.
The sole is where a boot can be let down the most.
You could have a £500 pair of boots but if there’s no grip when it matters the most, what’s the point?
The Fellmasters thankfully haven’t let me down this year.
Snow, mud, rain, grass, rocks, and dusty conditions they’ve eaten the miles, no questions asked. The high-density midsole is structured to perfectly support your foot, while the durable rubber VIBRAM sole provides stability underfoot thanks to the torsional support shank, This gives your real confidence in your foot placement when it really matters.
The OPTI-STUD® sole system gives maximum grip on those tricky surfaces and the new anti-mud clogging system releases mud as you walk to maximize grip availability.
Would I recommend these boots? Absolutely 💯!
